Khepera robots
Neurobotics Lab

I own two Khepera miniature robots, developed at the Laboratoire de Microinformatique of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, and commercially available through K-Team SA.

These robots as well as other pieces of equipment were donated to me by my Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Paolo Gaudiano. This kind donation has allowed me to continue the research that I began at Paolo's Neurobotics Lab .

Paolo named the Kheperas Thing 1 and Thing 2. If you don't get it, you must not know Dr. Seuss!

Pioneer 2

The Department of Cognitive and Neural Systems of Boston University donated me this Pioneer 2 robot from Activmedia.

CNS

Through a grant from Universidad Simón Bolívar I was able to buy the Sony pan-tilt camera and a frame grabber for the P2.

At Universidad Simón Bolívar (USB), the Artificial Intelligence Group (GIA) has a RWI (Activmedia) Pioneer 1 robot. I worked with this type of robot at the Boston University Neurobotics Lab. There we had 3 Pioneer 1: Athos, Portos, and Aramis. We also had a big RWI B-14 named D'Artagnan.

Boston University also donated a CCD color camera for the Pioneer 1. Recently we cquired pair of radio modems for remote communications.

Finally, USB has 4 Kits of LEGO robots. I use these kits to teach a robotics course to undergrad and grad students. The kits were donated in 1997 to the university by ENIAC. In 2000, I put together an on-line inventory (in Spanish) of the robotic kits.
